Superman Tattoo

Share
Superman - Cape Fetish
My first post here! Hi everyone!

I've only got one tattoo so far, but I have lot of ideas for more (Watchmen will probably be my next). I've loved Superman since I was six, so it seemed fitting that he'd be my first tattoo, but I wanted something a bit different from the ones I see all over the place. So I found this design on a t-shirt, tweaked the colors, and had it done by Miss Jenn at Anchorage Tattoo Studio.

Picture Back Here...Collapse )

The picture was taken the day after it was done. I should really take another now that it's all healed. Also, I'm currently debating getting a skyline view of Metropolis put behind him, but I think it might be odd because of the blank spaces in the silhouette. I'd be happy to hear your opinions on the subject.

Ok, i have been getting a lot of submissions but i have to reject many cause of rule violation. I, of course, let them know why it was rejected and ask them to adjust...and they dont, which really sucks cause some are pretty neat stuff.

This can be avoided if we all can just follow the most BASIC rules here.

1- ALL images need to be behind a lj-cut.

If you don't know how, it is right in the LJ FAQ
http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=75

2- Put WHAT the tattoo is in the SUBJECT or before the cut.

These are really the 2 major rules for approval. Of course, it has to fit the geeky fandom thing...but aside from that...simple!

please guys, try to follow these rules and if you tell friends to post, let them know.

Thanks!

March 31st, 2009

Well, after months of obsessing (luckily for the interweb, only weeks in an online form), I got my Rorschach tattoo.  It is his signature/symbol from the comic Watchmen.

Now, before I get all squealy about it, I want to explain my reasoning a bit, because some people rolled their eyes and gave me a rather contemptuous look when I told them about my tattoo.

Yes, I love the comic. Yes, I love the character of Rorschach. But I got this tattoo more for what it (and Rorschach) stood for. Not the character's opinions or quirks, (I'm not a homophobic/anti-woman hobo vigilante, to my knowledge, although I do eat sugar cubes) but for his ideals.

He never compromised. He believed in something, and he fought for it, and never wavered in his belief, and was willing to do whatever it took to maintain those beliefs. Even when it would have been easier to give in and roll over, like everyone else, he stood fast, because it was right, and because sometimes that's what you have to do. He never doubted himself, and he made his own morals. Then he stood by them, without fear or regret. And as someone who has, throughout their life, been wracked with self-doubt, anxiety, and the tendency to bend to others' wills, I feel that this is something to remember. Not to be inflexible, but to be true to yourself and the things that are important to you, regardless of what others might say or think. Be who you are, without compromise or apology. Hold fast to your ideals (not politics or opinions, but ideals), and aspire for a better world.

OK, enough of my philosophizing (I tend to get very introspective when I get tattoos, apparently). Also, my friend pointed out the humor that the character of Rorschach would have enormous problems with my tattoo because, A) He doesn't seem like a tattoo kind of guy, and B) It's on a GIRL OH NOES. I too find this funny.

Warning: Possibly NSFW, if disembodied torsos and low-slung pants are obscene. Maybe they are. I know not.

x-posted um..... Pretty much everywhere. Ever. This may be on CNN at some point. I'm very excited. FANGIRL SQUEE. So I apologize if you see 50 versions of this. Really I do</div></div>

My newest tattoo, two hours old, inspired by the title of one of my favorite novels: Murakami Haruki's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. It's a cover up-- you can see the original star and half moon that were done in black. I've been wanting a Murakami-inspired tattoo for years. It's my birthday present to myself!

Hey all! A friend just linked me to the comm, and I had to join. Figured I'd go ahead and post what pictures I have of my geekyink.

Everything below the cut is SFW.

Name's Harmony, but you can call me Harm. Nineteen, close to twenty now, got my very first tattoo on my eighteen birthday. Three guesses what my fandom is...

Yesterday I just got a new gaming tattoo... and I can say without a doubt, it's the best piece on me yet.

I can't quite put my finger on what's so badass about Midna from Twilight Princess, but she is for sure. So I got it tattooed on the back of my leg.

Sephiroth

Share
Hey, before I post the picture that is relevant to the community, I would just like to say that I am new here, and I am grateful to have found a community like this!
As a tattoo artist and self-proclaimed nerd, this seems to be a place that I am well-suited for. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to show off a little charm that I tatted on my boyfriend...
If you are not familiar (which I hope is not the case!!) this is Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. :)
The oh so sexy Sephy...Collapse )

Also, please note that I have never used an LJ Cut before, so I really hope that this worked the way it was supposed to, and I'm super sorry if it didn't!!

Tattooing at this time of the year is my yearly present to myself for accomplishing some great goal/selling at the holiday bazaar at my college. This year I went with the symbol of earth from Stargate (movie/sg-1/atlantis).

Just so aliens will know where to take me back to after they've abducted me.Collapse )

Located on the right wrist and completed by David at Alien Ink on Stage Rd. in Bartlett TN. They're also under new ownership it appears and have completely transformed the shop into a geek's paradise. They have stargate gate addresses painted on the columns and is 100 times more clean and awesome.

My only complaint was the other customers in the shop coming and bugging me while I was trying to get tattooed. (Especially during the first 5 minutes of a tattoo when you're trying to get adjusted to the slight burning sensation of the needle.)

Ghost in the Shell

I JUST got it - I LOVE it!Collapse )

The design is Motoko Kusinagi's neck cyber-ports from Ghost in the Shell.  I love the movies, and the anime series, because I always have to think when I watch it - there's so many great characters, the art is beautiful, and the music is FANTASTIC. My hair's already purple - If it wasn't for me living at home, I'd get my hair cut similar to the Major's too! I got it done at Angry Moon on Carson Street in the South Side of Pittsburgh.  "Cyco" Mike did it, as he's a HUGE Ghost in the Shell fan as well :)</div>

November 9th, 2008

I have an X-Men symbol on my left ankle, and it has long been my plan to get a JLA anklet on my other ankle, specifically designed to look like a real physical object. I went to Ben Reese at No Regets in Memphis and he did a fantastic job.

Bear in mind it's still healing.

I was told, urged, nudged, what have you, to come post my fresh ink here. Because it is teh <3'ed. :D The pictures are low quality camera phone pics, fresh out of the shop which accounts for the fact that I'm still bleeding. XD Such a bleeder. But really, the pictures don't do the AMAZING color justice and I'll have to get better quality pictures in the future.
